Make is a visual automation platform that connects your different apps and moves data between them automatically, without writing code. Instead of copying information from one app and pasting it into another by hand, you build what Make calls a "scenario": a visual diagram showing when a process starts, what happens at each step, and where it ends.
The platform launched out of Prague in 2012 under the name Integromat, before Celonis acquired it in 2020 and renamed it Make in 2022. The idea behind it hasn't changed since day one: give someone who isn't a developer the same ability to connect systems that used to require an engineering team.
The most common use is moving data between two or more apps the moment something specific happens, like a form submission turning instantly into a new record in Airtable or Notion.
Other common tasks built in Make: posting the same content across several social platforms at once, sending an automatic welcome message to every new newsletter subscriber, updating a sales spreadsheet every time a new order comes in from an online store, and summarizing a long document with AI before sending the summary straight to Slack or email.

Every scenario is built as a diagram where you drag steps and connect them to each other. This means you see the entire data path laid out in front of you, instead of guessing what's happening behind the scenes.

If You Cancel: The account automatically drops to the Free plan, and any scenarios relying on paid-plan features stop running. The account and saved scenarios stay in place though, and you can pick them back up later.
⚠️ Worth knowing: operations are counted per module action, not per scenario run. A 10-module scenario that runs 100 times a month burns 1,000 operations, not 100. It's easy to blow through the Free plan's allowance faster than expected if a scenario is complex or branches heavily.

If you're currently copying data between two apps by hand every day, Make removes that step entirely and runs it on its own. For anyone already using Zapier, Make offers roughly the same core idea, at a lower cost per execution, with a more detailed visual editor that lays out every step as a diagram.
It doesn't replace your project management or client communication tools though. It sits behind them, moving data between them, not standing in for them.
If your manual tasks are simple and few, adding Make might be one more subscription rather than a real time saving.
