The company started in 2020 as Heritage Type Co., a marketplace for vintage typefaces founded by lettering artist Tobias Saul and entrepreneur Nicolas Heymann. If you're paying a freelance designer for routine logo or label work, Kittl replaces that recurring spend, since you generate the first draft yourself from a text prompt or an old image.
It also replaces separate subscriptions for stock photos, fonts, and mockup generators, since it bundles all three: more than a million photos, graphics, and fonts on the free plan alone, and a full library on paid plans.
It doesn't replace a production tool like Adobe Illustrator for complex, multi-layer print jobs, and it doesn't replace a fulfillment platform like Printful or Printify, because Kittl produces the artwork, not the shipping or manufacturing.
